Games in the 2023 PBEM DWC can end in one of four ways:
A solo victory - by controlling 18+ SCs
A conceded victory - being voted as the solo winner
An agreed draw.
A forced DIAS draw - if the game reaches Winter 1912 before being otherwise resolved.
A conceded victory is agreed by all surviving players in a vote. The player who achieved this victory is assumed to have reached 18 SCs and all other players to have lost the game.
An agreed draw is agreed by all surviving players in a vote. The draw can include all survivors or nominated survivors, ie draws do not need to include all surviving players, called a DINS draw. A DINS draw still requires all survivors to accept it.
In a solo victory or a conceded victory, the winner earns 180 points, everyone else scores 0.
In a draw, the scores are:
2-way draw: 90 points each.
3-way draw: 60 points each.
4-way draw: 45 points each.
5-way draw: 36 points each.
6-way draw: 30 points each.
7-way draw: 0 points each.
Score Modifier
Points are modified based on a comparison of points between the actual points a player earns representing a power, and the average points earned by that power in all games.
POWER POINTS
A record of each power's average score is maintained throughout the PBEM DWC. This is calculated using the formula: Σp÷n, where:
p = points earned by that power at the end of a game.
Σp = total points earned by that power in all games played.
n = number of games played in the tournament.
For games ending in a solo or conceded victory, p is calculated as 18 for the victor's power, and 0 for every other power.
PLAYER POINTS
Player points will be modified by calculating the difference between the score the player achieved in the game and the Power Points for the power they played using the formula: S-μ, where:
S = the points earned by the player in the game.
μ = the Power Points of the power they played in the game, rounded to two decimal places.
This means that a player's score from a game will not be known until the end of the tournament, unless they solo or earn a conceded victory in all of their games. So, if a player does better than average when controlling a power, their score for a game will increase, whereas if they do worse than average their score will decrease.
Final Table
When all rounds of the League are completed, the Final table is calculated.
Players need to have played in at least two games to be placed in the table.
Players will have their final points tally divided by five, regardless of how many games they have played in, rounded to two decimal places. This will be the player's final score in the EDL.
The player who finished top of the table will be declared the Champion.
