Hello, and welcome.
You've found yourself on the E-DIPLOMACY forum, a site where Play-By-Email (PBEM) Diplomacy games are organised. If you're here by accident, you need to take more care with your clicks
I'm going to assume that you're not here by accident, though, so why are you here?
Perhaps you just wanted to see what it's all about? In that case, you've landed on the right post. Not that you had a lot of choice, I know...
E-DIPLOMACY is a site for PBEM Diplomacy. If you've played Diplomacy on a website or an app before, it's pretty much the same thing but by email... and with a human running the game. You communicate with your fellow players by email, receive adjudications by email, etc. Some of the game may be on the forum - any messages to all the players in the game - and the game itself is organised through the forum but the rest of the game is by email.
The plan is for E-DIPLOMACY to host the PBEM DIPLOMACY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (EDWC), a tournament of five rounds, in 2023. As far as I'm aware, a Dip PBEM tournament doesn't happen anywhere else at the moment. You can find out about the 2023 E-Dip World Championship here.
I'm also planning to run a PBEM league on E-DIPLOMACY: the E-Dip League (does what it says on the tin!). This is a usual League format: a number of rounds (I haven't decided yet) that players can drop in on and play when they wish. You can find out about the 2023 E-Dip League here.
Perhaps you're more interested in giving a PBEM game a try before signing-up to something more competitive? In that case, you may find members willing to run games for you here.
If you've never played Diplomacy before, I'd suggest reading the rules first! You can download a copy of the rules here.
You can find other places to play Diplomacy online. I'd recommend a website, honestly; there are three stand-out sites:
There are apps out there, too, if you want a quick game:
I find the apps less satisfying and, unfortunately, they're more likely to be less consistent, but each to their own. The three apps I've listed are all available for Android (I'm not sure about iPhone).
You might also find other places to play in the GAME DROP section of the forum (under HOBBY NEWS).
Whatever your reason for being here, I hope you'll stay. I encourage people to chat about Diplomacy and just hang around the forum if that's what you want to do... but I hope I'll see you in the events we run, too. If you have any suggestions, then let me know - I'm happy to consider anything!
Happy stabbing.

- Playdiplomacy is a great site with a great community.
- webDiplomacy is another great site with a great community.
- Backstabbr doesn't have a directly linked community but is a good site to get a game.
There are apps out there, too, if you want a quick game:
- Diplicity
- Primacy
- Conspiracy
