Yes... it's down to me, I'm afraid. E-DIPLOMACY is my idea. I might disown it if it doesn't work out, though!
I've been around the Diplomacy Hobby, in my own way, for quite a few years now. I'm leaving it deliberately vague: you don't need to know how long, and I don't need to remember. Let's just say, though, that when I started, PBEM games weren't a thing.
And then they were... and then they weren't again. I think I played about two games by email..? I eventually got onto the Playdiplomacy site and that was the end of that. Why would I contact people using email when I could do everything in-game?
Well, I'm not going to pretend that PBEM Dip is in any way superior to playing on a website. However, it's different... and in a world where doing something different in Diplomacy is becoming a positive thing again, maybe PBEM Dip, in an organised way, is a good way forward. And even if it isn't, I'm going to give it a go!
I've tried and failed at a number of things in the past. I had begun publishing my own Diplomacy zine at the start of 2022. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke in the spring and this went the way of everything else at that time. I do a fair bit of writing about Diplomacy, mainly through my blog, The Diplomaticon. If you want to learn anything worth learning about Diplomacy, give it a look (and then look elsewhere for the stuff that's really worth learning about the game).
I also write books about Diplomacy. I've published "50 Tips for Playing Better Diplomacy" and actually made a small fort... OK, a little bit from that; it paid for my annual subscription to Playdip, anyway
So, yeh, I'm something of a Diplomacy fan. I mean, who wouldn't be? I'm enough of a fan that I enjoy giving back to the Hobby I love.
And that brings me back to E-DIPLOMACY.
